Education Support

Education is a key support offered to the OVC as a means of alleviating their situation in the long term. This report presents the progress of activities and results on the efforts of funding received from B.R.C.F. The year 2016 mainly focused in supporting Secondary Education for 2 OVC and Primary Education for 4 other OVC. This Annual Report is presented in parts detailing the activities conducted by JOWI-F to realize the aims and objectives and the results reported here.

All the 6 OVC currently live with old grandparents and guardians who find it challenging to afford paying school fees, buying uniform and other scholastic materials for their OVC. The support therefore helped in paying school fees,
buying school uniform and scholastic materials to aid the 6 OVC in learning. Due to constant availability of learning materials, reviews of school records from school registers indicate a constant attendance of the OVC to school.

In addition, a chat with the respective school teachers revealed a relatively satisfied performance by the OVC supported by JOWI-F. The satisfaction is attributed to the fact that the OVC felt settled given that JOWI-F had adequately

catered for their Education needs. JOWI-F has also gone further to directly or indirectly improve its support to the families where the 6 OVC come from based on lessons learnt during the year; courtesy of B.R.C.F. funding.

Below is a table summarizing performance for 2 secondary school beneficiaries, Alvin and Bofin, during the year 2016.

Note: Refer to the annexes below that details the potential cases that are cued for support and success stories for each of the 4 families and OVC JOWI-F have started supporting courtesy of B.R.C.F.
